OTHER OPPORTUNITIES ON RIVER DART
The Dart Harbour website provides a wealth of information about the river Dart.
Dart Harbour provides a very useful web page covering Disabled Accessibility on the River Dart. This provides details on facilities for disabled river users from Dartmouth/Kingswear up to Totnes. There is also information about facilities on the Ferries and Trip Boats that operate on the river Dart and also the Yacht Taxis.
The Dart Harbour office is always available to offer advice, and where possible will offer assistance.
In April 2025 Dart Harbour opened a new hoist accessible via town quay to enable wheelchair users to transfer to small vessels such as dinghies – we took Hansa 303 and support boat to demonstrate the new facility – see News Blog.
The Dart Harbour Community and Environmental Fund allocates a proportion of their income to support good causes in the local area. The purpose of the fund is to support organisations whose mission it is to help tackle disadvantage and provide opportunities across the Dart River Estuary area. The fund includes contributions from a levy on cruise passengers, ensuring they make a contribution to the area. In Spring 2026 this fund has very generously agreed to a 3 year commitment to assist Dart Sailability operating costs, and thus assist us taking people with disabilities out on the water. We are extremely grateful for this ongoing support.
