SAFETY INFORMATION
At Dart Sailability the key priority is the safety of all members. This is achieved through the following principles:
-
The conduct and regular review of a Risk Analysis considering all aspects of DSG operations and the outcome of Reviews of Incidents. The Analysis is available on the website
-
The development and application of Operating Procedures and guidelines designed to mitigate risks and reflect best practice. The Operating Procedures are available on the website.
-
Training and Experience of Volunteers
-
Awareness of the capabilities and needs of disabled sailors
-
Annual RYA Inspection of Equipment and Procedures relevant to operations of DSG as an RYA Recognised Training Centre.
-
Engaging with RYA to learn about best practice and lessons from other boating organisations.
An overview of the application of these principles is provided in the Safety Section of our Handbook.
The Safety Section of the Handbook includes clear lines of responsibilities for safety throughout the organisation structure, recognises that there are key competencies required by members before they are allowed to undertake certain roles and responsibilities in order to ensure safe operations, and that regular training and assessments of competencies are conducted.
