Four members took to the waters and gained RYA Level 2 qualifications with a big thank you to tutors Bob and Chris. It was sunshine all the way for Stuart, Claude, Jean Luc and Kate (left to right) as they tackled a variety of practical exercises in the Hawk and Kanata, our Dranscombe long boat, with some classroom tuition thrown in for good measure. Navigation, chart reading and practising tacking, gybing and general seamanship came together as the four took the boat up to Stoke Gabriel and back again. However, the plain sailing came to an end as they sailed back to Galmpton as Chris and Bob devised a series of exercises including man over board and coming alongside the NAB whilst it was stationery just off a beach!
