Appeal for new Treasurer

After 10 stalwart years running the accounts at Dart Sailability Group, Nick Woodward has decided to step down from the end of September due to personal reasons. We are therefore looking for someone with bookkeeping and electronic banking experience who would be prepared to take over from him (the Charity's Financial Year starts on 1 October) and lead the Group firmly into the era of electronic banking, the process for which has already been started. The position also comes with an ex officio position as a Trustee, which we hope the successful candidate will accept.

The workflow comprises managing a current and a deposit account with CAF Bank and transferring all transactions to the Liberty Accounts on-line system, where transactions can be allocated into specific sub-accounts to enable budgets to be visibly tracked by stakeholders. The final end of year accounts are handled by our accountant as an independent auditor. The bulk of the Charity's transactions occur from late October to end of May during which period expenditure for winter maintenance and annual fixed costs mostly become due. All transactions, wherever possible, occur electronically, although some cash handling is taken care of by a small number of volunteers.

It would be a great advantage if candidates are interested in sailing or motorboating on the River Dart as we are an RYA Centre of Training Excellence and offer free tuition to achieve RYA dinghy, keelboat and Powerboat Level 2 qualifications. Taking part in our activities would also give the candidate a greater insight into where the money comes from and goes to!
