Sad loss for Dart Sailability..

It is with the greatest sadness that we learned today of the death of our dear friend and Sailability colleague Richard Fellender.

Richard was one of the original volunteers, and along with many helped get Sailability off the ground.

Richard filled several roles including Engineer and chief Powerboat Instructor. He was a very experienced sailor and Dart Sailability benefited hugely from his knowledge and experience.

About seven years ago, when Mark Farries resigned as Principal after 15 years in the post, Richard joined with Andrew Cushen and Bob Miller to form the new management team. He was also very involved in the design and sourcing of the aluminium recreational craft (ARC), later named after Angela and Mark Farries.

Most of all we will miss dear Richard’s friendship, his easy going humour, his unbounded enthusiasm and his gentle "leg pulls”.

Richard lost his wife several years ago and lived in Broadsands with his dog and indulged his passion for building and flying model aircraft. He was planning to buy an electric cycle and take a “flying holiday” in Scotland with a friend.

We know that lots of members will want to share their memories of Richard we will let you know about any arrangements as soon as we have more information.
