Sad news today...

I have the sad duty to tell you that we have lost one of our keen volunteers. We have just learned of the death of Tom Glomb who passed away aged just 48.

Tomak, to give his correct name, moved from Poland many years ago. He was an enthusiastic sailor and crewed on many “blue water” voyages on private yachts and with the Jubilee Sailing Trust. He was a qualified Yachtmaster and his skills were greatly appreciated by Dart Sailability and The Disabled Sailing Association in Torquay.

Tom was a quietly spoken and private person, but one who would undertake most Sailability volunteering duties with enthusiasm and efficiency. He was a member for about eight years and regularly took part in Wednesday evening racing at RDYC in the Sonars as well as normal sessions when his full time caring job allowed.

Our long time member Rose Hewitt will especially miss Tom. Rose is blind and Tom used to help her with her mail and do other useful jobs for her as a friend. When Rose had her own sailing cruiser, Tom would skipper for her. Latterly he used to bring her to Sailability sessions when work commitments allowed.

Tom will be greatly missed by many of you and details of a funeral/memorial service will be circulated as soon as we know.
