Super Seals!

ree

A huge thank you to Sarah Greenslade, founder member of The Seal Project, for a fascinating talk on Friday. This Brixham based charity records all sightings of the rare Grey Seals and Common Seals around our shores, helping to protect them from disturbance and entanglements and monitors their locations and behaviours. Sarah and her team identify the seals by their individual fur patterns which often resemble familiar shapes, leading to such names as Flower, Easter Bunny, Tom Hanks and Mary Poppins! Sarah brought along lots of cuddly models and some not so cuddly skeletal body parts which would be useful at Halloween!

Many thanks to all those who attended. For those who missed out, lots more information can be found on the website www.thesealproject.co.uk and members are very welcome and encouraged to share any information and photos of sightings - Carrie can pass on Sarah's contact details.

If you see any marine mammal in distress please call the British Divers Marine Life Rescue on 01825 765546.
